According to Zhan Guoshu, former editor-in-chief for the overseas edition of the People's Daily, former ping-pong star Deng Yaping will join the People's Daily as deputy chief secretary and president of the People's Daily's search site Goso.cn.
 
A number of industry sources familiar with the situation have confirmed Zhan's report. Another rumor states that the People's Daily made an internal announcement about Deng's appointment last week.
